  I must agree, the workmanship was much higher when computers, and consumer  
  electronics in general were considered an investment, rather than a cheap  
  disposable device that'l Be thrown out with the next fad. Everything was  
  built  
  like tanks, with heavy metal (haha, no pun intended) cases. Most of my  
  stuff  
  was free or inexpensive second hand, yet it was top of the line back in the  
  day, and will outlast the junk people spend more money on buying new. But  
  sadly, many people dont plan to keep their current purchases, as they'll  
  just  
  wastefully throw it out for something newer but of lower quality, for a  
  television ad told them to.
