What a dick move. I've seen many disrespectful moves, many in this network
and this joins that list.
Fidonet policy4 9.1:
"In other words, there are no hard and fast rules of conduct, but reasonably
polite behavior is expected."
IMHO you failed that test.
There are better ways to handle this, you should learn them.
