  why learn pascal? why learn C, BASIC, ASM, C++, C#, or even COBOL or  
  FORTRAN?  
  or maybe even some form of SQL/xBASE?  
    
  they're just languages and they do most all the same stuff... allow you to  
  present an interface to exchange data of some type between entities...
