Haven't seen a rules posting lately, but I'm still here....  ;  
    
           A male friend of ours, who was born in one of the ex-USSR  
  countries,  
  introduced us a few weeks ago to his new girlfriend... born in another of  
  the  
  ex-USSR countries.  I hope this relationship lasts because she & I liked  
  each  
  other from the start!  Anyway, she mentioned in conversation that the  
  Russian  
  language has no dialects.  I don't disbelieve it.  But as a native speaker  
  of  
  English I found myself quite surprised by the idea, and as the sort of  
  person  
  who consults various sources I would also like to hear what *you* think.  :-
