Good evening, Paul. ( morning ? ) PQ> Do that after making a backup, particularly of your 'home' directory. PQ> (That will have your personal settings for both TB & FF.) Even with a PQ> new working upgrade, the directory for TB will still be handy, as, after PQ> a new TB has run at least once, the contents of the old PQ> ~/.thunderbird/xxxxxxxx.default/* can be copied into the new one. You PQ> could do the same for ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/* but you PQ> might miss out on any add-on that you're wanting. You have me guessing again, how to make a BU of this U'u ? I tried Acronis on it but it did not like the file format, it said that it needed 11+ hours to do this BU and I still do not know if it would be a real BU, I was trying a clone. PQ> I have tried version upgrades in the past on my little Dell netbook but PQ> the they (plural) failed. I am luckier than thou, my friend. I accepted the upgrade to the LTS version and it did it all by itself and I am now on it. PQ> Look to its BIOS. There might be settings there to switch-off the MoBo PQ> hardware. Sorry if I'm preaching to the converted. :) Nothing to be sorry about, getting two heads together at times solves problems. Any how, I had a look at the BIOS and could not see what to vary. I even went to " Load default settings " and this neither was good. I do not think that we are looking at the right horizon here, the audio from a music CD plays good, therefore the setup is proper, methinks. I will try again to let the machine find whatever plugin it needs. Today, I got set up in the U'u forum but have not had the time to ask questions. I perused a few questions but did not find any good lead yet. As Ed is want to say : computors are fun. --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox * Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384)
