   Sound problems resuming from Hibernation

I have an MP3 player that plays MP3s off DVD.
   Uses mci sendstring

   errreturn = mciSendString("play sound", rs, 128, cb)

Been working great for years...until I tried to hibernate the laptop.
   Windows 2000 SP4.
   Visual Basic 6

I have the laptop set up to hibernate when I push the power button.

When the laptop comes out of hibernation, the program comes back,
the play progress bar advances, but there's no sound.
IF I leave it alone, it does that for several minutes then
   goes back into hibernation.

If I move the mouse, the sound resumes and the program proceeds
   like it should.

The primary purpose of using hibernation is to make the system
come back quickly without intervention. Moving the mouse is
undesired intervention...may as well not hibernate.

I have no idea how to approach debugging this, 'cause
anything I do requires a mouse movement that eliminates the problem.

   Ideas?
   Thanks, mike
