Program locks up coming out of hibernate

   I have a VB6 program that plays mp3's
If I hibernate the laptop and restart, the program
comes up running, animations work indicating that the
file is playing and giving position feedback from the file, but there's
no sound. If I let it sit,
it times out and goes back into hibernation.
If I move the mouse, I get sound and the system runs normally.

I don't have this problem with other programs, just mine.

I have this problem with a Dell Latitude C series and Toshiba
3480 series. Both running Windows 2000.

My Compaq Presario 906 (windows XP SP2) does NOT have this problem.
It comes out of hibernation cleanly.

This is what I'm using to play the mp3 files:
   errreturn = mciSendString("open mpegvideo!" & Chr$(34) & playthis &
      Chr$(34) & " alias sound", rs, 128, cb)

Is there something I can do in VB6/Windows API to fix this?
I'm willing to cheat if I can get an event when the system comes out of
   hibernation.
If I program a cursor movement, does that actually work the same
as moving the mouse? Not sure where the hangup is or where the
   API enters the system.

I'd like the fix to work with win98, but it's not essential.

This is not a big deal, but I'd rather not have to stand there
and wait for the system to unhibernate.

   Thanks, mike
