   You can use the mouse down event on the command button instead of the click   
   event to action on the first press. You'll also need some the code in the   
   Click event for keyboard users. You may need some logic to prevent double   
   presses.   
      
   Another plan is to design your own calendar control, that way if you use XP   
   themes the calendar doesn't look so out of place.
