The HSA is tax deductible, so I saved $1,800       on my tax bill (just for that $9,000). This makes my real cost of       medical expenses $7,200 for those three years. With this new* policy I       saved $4,300 per year, that's $12,900. So in three years I save $12,900       - $7,200 =       $5,700. I saved $5,700 for those three years, plus I have about $9,750       left in the HSA growing tax free. The $9,750 is my money not money held       in the insurance companies pocket.               This only works for adults that have learned not to live paycheck to       paycheck.                     * new policy, I changed from a $2,500 deductible to a $10,000 deductible       and saved $4,300 per year. That was in 4/09. I max out my HSA this year,       I put in $7,450, in January I'll put in another $7,450, I don't think       they raised the cap for 2014, Darn.        I don't know what Obama will do with HSA's in the future, hope he       doesn't decide to tax them.               To each their own, Mikek              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
