I fell asleep watching TV and neglected       to feed the fire.              When the nights get colder (<0F) I'll turn on a small lamp that protects a       vulnerable outside faucet from freezing. Then the house can safely drop to       40F. The last time I let it cool I placed thermocouples to find danger       spots. The lamp changed the faucet feed pipe from the coldest to the warmest       place in the basement.              How did your project to salvage the Saft NiCds go?              After you asked I replaced DeWalt NiCd packs with NiMH and then found I had       to buy a new charger, although they physically fit the old one. In the       process I encountered several makers' cost cutting shortcuts to charging       them, other than the voltage dip algorithm that doesn't work well with       deteriorated older packs. The pack voltage steps down incrementally as each       good cell hits full charge.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
