   Maybe, my instinctive reaction to an unexpected bright light at night is to   
   look away or shield my eyes to protect my night vision. Typically a cat has   
   tripped a neighbor's floodlights.   
      
   A big loud WOOF! makes an animal that doesn't know I'm there stop and look
