   This would depend on where you live, and how it is implemented.   
   This is not much different than hooking up a back-up generator   
   that is not automatic.  Power goes out and everything shuts off.   
   Turn main off and engage back-up system.  There is nothing wrong   
   with piggy backing the solar onto the back-up system as long as   
   the main is open, in most locations.  The transfer switches and   
   or interlocking means is only necessary with automatic systems.   
   Since the solar system is killed with the loss of utility, this   
   is not an issue.  Like I stated, though, this depends on location.
