   RG/6 braid is common copper clad steel braid for strength and low transfer   
   impedance.   
      
   If yours is missing the flash plated copper, then a compression fit connector   
   is a must.   
      
   BTW those  F connectors can be rated up -30 RL @ 1GHz which is a function of   
   geometric ratio of outer/inner radius up to 1/20 lambda.
