|    MV Distribution w/Floating Neutral?    |
|    20 Mar 19 10:36:30    |
From: arl_123234@hotmail.com              Hello, all. I was in Cedar Rapids, IA recently (I don't reside there)       traveling along Rt. 100 (Collins Rd) in northeast of downtown. I       noticed utility poles with a single cross arm accommodating 4 medium       voltage (MV) line wires. This clearly wasn't the usual 3-phase MV       distribution with 3 wires on the cross arm with the neutral attached to       the pole below the cross arm. I later examined Google satellite images       along this part of Collins Rd and it appears one of the 4 wires may be       the neutral (not the same insulator as the other 3 wires but on some       poles they were the same) but no indication if it's earthed at regular       intervals. If any of you folks have further info it would be       appreciated and instructive. Just never saw this arrangement before.       Sincerely,              --       J. B.
