   Did you try going to (on window toolbar):   
      
   View > Messages > and select "All" ?   
      
   In the same Master menu of "View"   
      
   View > Headers > Normal   
      
   and   
      
   View > Threads > Unread   
      
   Just a thought, and I hope this helps.  It took me awhile to get mine to   
   behave properly.  If not, back up your personal information (accounts   
   and such) and use a utility such as Revo uninstaller to wipe T-bird off   
   of your system, reboot and reinstall T-bird.
