   Don,   
   As usual you let logic prevail. My recommendation not to do it was   
   largely based on the practical aspects of being able to find a local   
   version of what the OP wanted vs. the known problems associated with   
   doing this. Combine this with an increased ambient temperature (ie.   
   Africa) I recommended against doing it. Your analysis is certainly   
   noteworthy however.
