   Wrong. There was a difference between Nazis and garden variety Wermacht and   
   Luftwaffe soldiers serving their country. For example, my wife's German   
   teacher was a Luftwaffe transport pilot who despised Nazis for killing his   
   brother and father as dissidents. But he was German, and he did believe that   
   the Russians would attempt to destroy them. For another example, my   
   grandfather harbored no ill feelings toward the Luftwaffe pilot who shot him   
   because, as he said, "That guy was just doing his job, and if he hadn't have   
   been a fighter pilot they'd have made him an infantryman or they'd have   
   killed him." Furthermore he, (grandfather) determined it to be perfectly   
   reasonable for a German citizen to want to defend his home, family and   
   friends from aerial bombardment.
