   Leave town.  Try the coast, the mountains, or the gorge.   
      
   If you insist on staying in town, try the river or Forest Park.   
      
   You can combine river and gorge on the stern wheeler Columbia Gorge out   
   of Cascade Locks.  Portland Spirit also runs a jet boat cruise from   
   Portland to Astoria and back, so you can combine river and coast.   
      
   Beats hell out of pavement.
