   | When we expect go out in the woods: Flashlight, machete, knife, first aid
   | kit, fire extinguisher, flares, matches/lighter, CB/cellphone, blankets,
   | towels, gloves, extra coats, tow strap, entrenching tool, tool box, food,
   | water and a quart or two of oil and a working tire jack. I have a spare
   | serpentine belt too. I know four-wheelers that carry crap like spare
   | U-joints and axles, but that's a bit much. Also a full gas tank! I also
   | have a roll of TP and a tarp.
   |
   | Note that this is when we -expect- to go out into the woods or in bad
   | weather.
   |
   | So far, I've had to hobble home from the Naches wilderness area with my
   | brake line crimped shut by vice grips and my brake drum held together with
   | bailing wire, and another time my wife and I had to repair damage from a
   | deer strike that knocked the radiator back into the fan. We've done
   pretty
   | well, but neither of these cases involved total isolation or extreme cold.

   | They didn't know where to look because of weather.

We carry a down aircraft locator beacon as well. Never had to use it
ourselves but loaned it to a co work a few years back don't know if it made
any real difference but his family was found within 2 hours of his setting
   it off.
