The god thing is pretty resistant to proof one way or another, but I
have the human thing pretty well figured out. It seems that the
persistence of human consciousness depends on a normally functioning
human brain. They didn't know this when they made up the religion
thing, so they thought breathing (spirit) had something to do with it.
Nowadays we have pretty much determined that when the brain quits, so do
you. Nothing spoils the old squash quite so thoroughly as when it start
so rot. There is no afterlife, and you don't go to live in the sky
   (heaven).

You get one chance at life, and this is it. If people want to spend
that life praying, it's their business. Maybe it will make them feel
   better.
