   Everything is in the details.   
      
   They left a man behind in a "snow cave" and went for help. But, but...   
   wasn't it snowing when they separated?   
      
   I know about 20/20 hindsight, etc. but unless the injured guy would die with   
   treatment with a few days, they all might have been better off just waiting   
   out the storm. They had a cell phone. There could have told "911" what   
   there situation was and then set up a schedule when they would turn the   
   phone back on. With sleeping bags and bundled together they could have   
   waited out the weather.   
      
   When in doubt, do NOTHING but think unless immediate action is obviously   
   required.
