From: jdjj2@msn.com              I agree. Religion and government should never be one. Separation of       'church and state' has come under attack, from the religious right       lately.......but, it was created for a purpose. This is a good       example. But, it is 'back-firing' on the Christian right, because they       wanted to include religion, not only on the pledge, but other aspects of       public life aswell. Obviously, for the sole purpose of declaring       (publically) that we are a 'Christian' nation. That worked fine, as       long as Christianity was the dominate, majority faith. But, now with       'other' religions becoming more widespread........they also can use       those same standard, to work in their favor. That is going to create       religious strife. That is why we need separation of church and state.       The alternative is continuous religious bickering......leading to, who       knows where?                            Jack.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
