From: jdjj2@msn.com              Any symbols of faith are fine......in private places. And, as you know,       many private places are seen......publically. (Like churches, or,       places of worship). Public places, are public. All people have       access to 'public' buildings, like government buildings, and they       shouldn't have any one faith given prominence over another. As for       me......I'm fine with any display. I am a person of faith, I am a       Christian Scientist. I am use to Christian symbols of faith, and I       agree with them being displayed. I just think a case can be made, that       government buildings/public buildings should be neutral. I realize to       many Christian conservatives, those are 'fightin' words', but that is       the only way from offending people. And, since we are all tax       payers.........              As for cemeteries, no, I don't believe symbols have to be secular. Many       soldiers were people of faith, and I think those displays of faith, are       their right. And they should be displayed, for example, on their       headstones. On most military headstones, the symbol of ones faith are       engraved. I agree with that. Anyone who gave their lives for their       country, should be laid to rest, with dignity and respect. That       includes recognition of who they were.......including faith.       And it is also appropriate, since the next realm is now their reality.       Let them have it.              Jack.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
