   I realize that Godwin's law is being invoked, but the Brownshirts were   
   laughed at by the intelligencia -- a bunch of halfwits dressing up in   
   uniform and going out and shooting guns. Then they took power. We know   
   there are a lot of people fantasizing that they're the second coming of   
   Hitler, or maybe Jefferson Davis is more like it. If the south secedes   
   again, I don't think we should make any effort to stop them this time. Cut   
   the deep south free to make its own way, as the soviet union did.   
      
   Trivializing them and ignoring them are not options. They must be altogether   
   routed.   
      
   The trouble is that they really are adults, and they have been a malevolent   
   and destructive force in American politics for far too long. As we all know   
   here, they've been abetted by a complicit effete rightwing, selfish media   
   class that, in effect, ignored their moral and intellectual bankruptcy and   
   the devastating impact of their ideas and actions on America. No, ignoring   
   them is no longer an option.
