Once upon a time, I was going out with a woman who was studying Inuit
languages and in order to show my loyalty, took her to a showing of three
short films made for the CBC by some Inuit director. I thought that it
was Zacharias Kunuk, but the IMDb doesn't seem to list them in his
filmography. The three films were centered on different seasons of the
year -- in one, they set traps for fish, but then the fish don't show up,
so they go home; in another, people trek through ice and snow to some kind
of get together. Apparently if you were into Inuit culture, the films were
much less confusing (I remember that she said that in one, it was, ahem,
obvious from the clothes they were wearing that it was set in the 1930's)
than if you were just some guy.
