|    Pancake Day    |

XPost: alt.folklore, alt.mythology, alt.religion.christian.roman-catholic       XPost: alt.arts.storytelling, nf.general       From: dalton@nfld.com              Here In Newfoundland tomorrow, February 17, will be Pancake Day,       traditionally a time to use up the supply of eggs, butter, and milk       before Lent. Also there is a tradition of putting items in the batter       which when discovered were supposed to tell you something about       your future (e.g. who you might marry, with a nail meaning a       carpenter). Hopefully people ate their pancakes carefully and       didn’t swallow any nails, buttons, coins, etc. :-)              From another post by me:              February 17 will be Raven new moon (as in the Haida       creation legend of Raven and the First Men), Lunar New Year       (also known as Chinese New Year), a significant birthday in       my family, Mardi Gras/Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day (and       the eve of Ash Wednesday), and an Annular Solar Eclipse,       or Ring of Fire, though it won’t be visible up north. It is       also the new/dark moon which falls just before the start       of Ramadan (which depends on the sighting of the earliest       waxing crescent). So I hope that my global new age onset       mystic activation sequence will work then, though I am trying       a little advance workings tonight, 12 hours before the       exact time of new/dark moon.              --       https://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html Salmon on the Thorns (mystic page)       “I gave my love a golden feather; I gave my love a heart of stone; When you       find a golden feather it means you’ll never lose your way back home”(RR)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
