XPost: alt.bible, alt.religion.christian       From: .robert@mu.way              “Ye believe in God, believe also in me” is a clear–cut statement of our       Lord that He is God. I know a theology professor who claims that Jesus did       not claim deity. I'd like to know what He is saying here in this first verse       if He is not making Himself equal with God. His statement makes something       very clear right here. To believe in God means you are not an atheist, but to       be aChristian, you must have personal faith and trust in Christ. Dr. McGee.              Jhn 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in       me.              Were the ones who declared that Jesus was not God, Jews or JW’s? It really       doesn’t matter, Jesus answers them both, in the scriptures below.              Jhn 5:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath       day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.              Jhn 5:11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take       up thy bed, and walk.              Jhn 5:12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up       thy bed, and walk?              Jhn 5:13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed       himself away, a multitude being in that place.              Jhn 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him,       Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.              Jhn 5:15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had       made him whole.              Jhn 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him,       because he had done these things on the sabbath day.              Jhn 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.              Jhn 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only       had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself       equal with God.              Was this spoken by the Pharisaical Jews or the JW’s, and what is the       differences in their reasoning?              Mrk 2:6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in       their hearts,              Mrk 2:7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but       God only?              Mrk 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so       reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in       your hearts?              Mrk 2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thysins be       forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?              Mrk 2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to       forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)              Mrk 2:11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into       thine house.              Mrk 2:12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before       them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We       never saw it on this fashion.              Then who can forgive the JW of their sin when they deny that Jesus is God?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
