   "Hans Muench, a doctor who worked with Mengele and who was acquitted   
   of war crimes in 1947, gave an interview to Spiegel magazine in 1998   
   in which he was quoted as saying he could only "speak the best" about   
   Mengele and that Mengele's medical experiments at Auschwitz prevented   
   many Jewish inmates from dying of diseases at the camps.   
   Naturally, state prosecutors immediately began investigating Muench   
   for "downplaying" what the Nazis did at Auschwitz. Germans-even   
   87-year-old ones who were there-are not permitted to dispute any part   
   of the Holocaust ."
