The radioactivity left by WWII is negligible even in Japan compared to
the natural background AND K40 bananas. Earth was far more
contaminated by the atmospheric nuclear test era which is responsible
for many lung cancers. But that is still less than the contamination
of 40% of Europe from the Chernobyl blast in 1986 which lasts to the
present days. For details see my original post in this thread going
way back in sci.life-extension NG ... The contamination of Europe has
been documented recently with the radioactive Porcini mushrooms from
Italy or the hot boars and gamekeepers from Germany. Sweden is even
worst. The consequences of the ongoing Fukushima meltdowns including
the #3 MOX core ejection are going to be even worst given the huge
amount of radioactive elements released into the ocean and people
living in contaminated areas and eating contaminated food in Japan.
This is a serious issue affecting our longevity and perhaps even whole
mankind existence therefore I'm posting ....
