I restored the part you snipped which explains why you
   are wrong.
The idea behind the general population wearing masks is that
it prevents people who have the virus from spreading it.
Many people have the virus and are spreading it but do not have
symptoms of being sick. It is pretty obvious that countries where
everyone is wearing a cloth mask in public are the countries that
are successful in limiting the spread. There is no need for
extravagant medical respirator masks. A simple piece of cotton
cloth over the mouth and nose will trap the droplets coming out
of the mouth and nose that carry the virus.

The small droplets that pass through the mask aren't
a problem. That is why standing 6 ft apart prevents
infection. The droplets that carry the virus are large
enough to fall out of the air very quickly and land on
surfaces around the person spewing them. The virus can
live on the surfaces for hours to days.
Masks don't do much to protect the person wearing them
because in general there are not viruses floating around in
   the air.
