   PORTLAND, Ore. — Gresham Police identified the man who allegedly shot and   
   killed a security guard Saturday inside Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in   
   Northwest Portland before dying in an officer-involved shooting that   
   afternoon.   
      
   Police say 33-year-old Portland resident PoniaX Kane Calles, formerly   
   known as Reginald Kane Jackson, was fatally shot in a traffic stop in   
   Gresham.   
      
   Police were called out just before 11 a.m. on reports of someone seen with   
   a gun inside the hospital in Northwest Portland. When police arrived,   
   hospital security told police that shots had been fired on the 5th floor,   
   near the birthing center.   
      
   A security guard, later identified as Bobby Smallwood, was rushed to a   
   Level 1 Trauma Center. He died of his injuries.   
      
   Calles fled the hospital, but later that day he was pulled over near   
   Northeast 181st Avenue and Everett Street in Gresham.   
      
   Officers from Portland Police fired their guns during the traffic stop,   
   according to PPB Public Information Officer Kevin Allen. Calles was   
   pronounced dead at the scene and no officers were hurt.   
      
   Other law enforcement agencies were present at the time of the shooting   
   but did not use deadly force.   
      
   Another staff member was injured in the shooting.   
      
   "That employee suffered a shrapnel injury, not a direct bullet wound,"   
   Legacy Health officials said. "The employee was treated at Good Samaritan   
   and released to go home on Saturday."
