   They probably were thinking that if Bush said "Go out and spend," that would   
   have generated enough tax revenue to pay for the war. That wouldn't be the   
   first severely misguided idea they had. The idea that huge deficits   
   stimulate the economy seems to have failed us in this case also. Maybe   
   they'll try issuing war bonds or something before Dubya bites the bullet and   
   raises taxes.
