XPost: alt.journalism.music, az.politics, dfw.politics       XPost: tx.politics       From: unsentt@kaufman.net              ONE good thing came out of the Viet Nam war - the music.              Does *anybody* really like Jessica Simpson's or Nick Leahy's singing?       They, along with Hillary Duff are the latest recipients of taxpayer dollars       that were supposed to be used for the "rebuilding" of Iraq.       Getting water and electricity to starving Iraqis will, of course, be a       little harder to do - because of this distraction.              They're among a group of pretend musicians, collectively referred to as the       "Pop Tarts".       These people have never actually written any music themselves and they don't       play instruments.       Although, every once in a while, a "country" musician will try to make a       buck off the war by penning a song - but none of those songs stands out.              But what do we get for our money? Really, *really* bad music.       5, 10, 20 years from now - NOBODY will be jamming to Jessie Simpson's       tortured version of "Take my Breath Away".              There will be no Sgt Barry Sadler either for this war.       Many of the soldiers in the field don't want to be there and don't believe       in the war.       The ones who DO believe in the War against Islam are waaaay too cowardly to       say so under their own name - much less cut an album              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
