From: Doug234@webtv.net              "It's really nice to hear that not everyone thinks it's "Un-American"       just because one person's view is different from another."              Natalie can say whatever she wants in her music and hardly anyone would       ever hold it against her or consider her "Un-American. At least not this       moderate Conservative. What she did was step across that line and into       the public political arena. She took a very hard stance and whether you       do that from the Left or the Right, you are going to alienate the 50% of       the American public that disagrees with you. The only thing wrong with       what she did, is she alienated the 50% that make up the majority of the       people that put food on her table.              I love the Dixie Chicks and feel they are very talented. And they have a       Constitutional right to their beliefs. I'm a veteran and I put my life       on the line for her to have those rights. Many of my favorite       entertainers probably have very different political beliefs than I do       and that's fine..that's America. But she stepped across a line..a line       she does not recognize. Ok..that's fine, I have rights too, and I choose       not put money in her pocket. I have no problem with any one else doing       it...just don't expect it from me....yet. The only problem for the Dixie       Chicks is that a lot of her fans feel the same way I do. Honestly       Natalie, we DON'T hate you, we just don't want to buy your next house,       we'd rather spend our money on Gretchen Wilson or Sugarland       Express..folks we can relate to. I guess, we're "Not Ready To Make Nice"       either.              You'll just have to be more patient, Natalie. I think America was ready       for...if not an apology, then at least...an acknowledgement of how some       were offended and the pain that caused. Not a scolding. She chose not to       do that and, of course, that is her right. We will forgive you, but now       it's probably not going to be until the end of this Presidency and the       end of this conflict. Keep waiting Natalie, we even forgave Jane Fonda.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
