   Don't be naive. Had she said it on stage at Madison Square Garden, the   
   outrage would be just as great. What she did was to insult her core   
   fanbase. She did temporarily win some new fans outside that base. It   
   remains to be seen how deep that new-found devotion will remain after   
   the Bush/redneck-bashing act wears thin.
