From: neil.foster2007@tiscali.co.uk              I have jsut been told by bt that you need to get virus protection software       in order to get broadband. I am unsure as to how viruses attack your       computer. ie allows foreign programs to run on your computer cookies applets       and so onbut unless you actually download something and execute a program I       don't see how a virus can attack your computer. is it possible that windows       has a server polling all 65536 tcpip ports the sole purpose of which is to       wait for an incomming connection download whatever data bytes are sent find       out if its an executable and run it without asking. and if you turn cookies       off how the hell is a virus supposed to get into your computer. I am very       confused about this and a bit skeptical about the whole virus issue. I am       curious as to how a virus can actually get into your computer and get       executed without your knowing about it              any ideas gratefuly accepted              neil foster              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
