THe idea called "Basic Income" claims everyone should get a living
   income as an inalienable right.

The essential component in this plan seems to be that a clique in
control over the State finances, will be in control of paying *everyone*
their basics. No longer will many thousands of businesses in the Nation
be in control of paying the minimum and more in wages. The State would
pay everyone. If that is enough for some people with a frugal way of
living, they can do nothing for the rest of their lives. They could also
only do so little extra as they need for a few more extras in life.

The plan seems to be similar to the Marxist / Leninist Communist takeover
of Russia, with its total centralization of power (because the Council
Government failed). One difference in principle seems to be that under
original Communism you would at least be expected to work for your
money. Now with this new form of Communism (one Nation wide Commune) you
supposedly can choose to do nothing.

If the economy collapses because too many people stop working, the State
will presumably "have to" start making Basic Income conditional (as if
they didn't see that coming ...).
