   No economy can work without some freedom of speech on economic issues.   
      
   With such robust growth quite a few people in India must have some kind of   
   free speech.

   Quality of life is not just determined by GDP. Things like freedom, literacy,   
   and human rights also matter. The Indian media has become a mouthpiece for the   
   authorities,    
   repeating whatever facts and fiction, the government wants them to. The   
   personal, social, economic, and political freedom of people are limited by the   
   authorities, from the community to the national government. The literacy rate   
   is much lower than China'   
   s. Critics of the authorities are detained and tortured without due process.

   Chinese economic growth has slowed down as the state has become more   
   authoritarian.    
      
   This requires no evidence whatsoever. It's just a matter of simple logic.   
      
   The truth is self evident: free speech precedes each and every free market   
   free trade.   
      
   > Unless India becomes more free, economic growth will slow down. And what use   
   is money, when you are not free to spend it as you choose, and live as you   
   choose?
