   You  can call it whatever you want but the social security is just   
   another form of tax.   To start with it was only the working people that   
   put in money and got money out.  Now one does not have to work to get   
   SS.  Workers pay 1/2 and the company pays 1/2.  Self employed pay the   
   full amount becase the same percentage goes to the SS fund.   
      
   A worker would be better off if that 12.4% went into a 401k/ira type   
   account.  All that money would be the worker's and not shared with the   
   non workers.
