After WWII, cheap stuff was made in Japan, as in the expression, Made in
Japan. But as time went on, wages got too high in Japan and they had to
off-short their manufacturing to the Phlipines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and
as wages got too high, they off-shored their manufacturing to Viet Nam,
   Laos, Pakistan, etc.
