XPost: alt.drugs.pot, alt.drugs.pot.hydro, alt.support.marijuana.medical       From: nonesuch@addy.not               I think the best way to achieve any meaningful degree of       success in legitimizing cannabis is thru the present medical mj       process. If a substantial number of states decrim for medical use and       just ignore it, soon the general populace and the legislators and law       enforcement people will see that it's really *not* a big deal and       decrim will happen just because of a good stiff dose of reality.       Barriers will fall when a majority of the populace (including the       aforementioned elected/appointed officials) allow them to by dropping       opposition. There is still a very vocal minority who still believe the       old stereotypes about pot use and loudly protest even the inclusion of       the word marijuana in the English language; old age will be the force       that ends their opposition I'm afraid. A lie repeated often enough       becomes accepted as the truth, and said lies are too firmly ingrained       into their narrow minds.        It's all well and good to go about espousing how wonderful and       repercussion-free cannabis use truly is, but I firmly believe the       chink in the armor of prohibition is best attacked thru the medical       applications of "the weed". After opposition to medical use falls,       decriminalization for casual personal use should be easier to attain.       The hesitant/noncommitted portion of society has to see with their own       eyes that cannabis is innocuous.        BudBurner              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
