   Once again we have incontrovertible evidence of so-called 'peace officers'   
   doing what brutal storm troopers do best: beating up a helpless old man. The   
   charges? Public intoxication and resisting arrest. Ignoring, for the moment,   
   the victim's claim that he hasn't touched alcohol in some 20+ years, what if   
   he was drunk? Is that justification for beating him within an inch of his   
   life (whilst a swine on a horse tried to obscure the view, and several   
   federal shoats manhandled nearby reporters)? And as for resisting arrest,   
   who can blame him? If this is how they treat citizens out on the street,   
   what must go on behind the walls of their local sty? What rational person   
   would allow themselves to become another Abner Louima? This is not to say   
   that EVERY police officer is the kind of pig we've seen in the rare   
   instances when they happen to get caught; however, what every police officer   
   is, is a soulless agent of a corrupt state, sworn to uphold laws, regardless   
   of whether they are just or not. If the law says march Jews into ovens,   
   police officers are sworn to comply. That oath, coupled with an official   
   culture of bru6tality that permeates the government, from a rogue president   
   who favors torture, right down to the corrupt flatfoot on the beat (aptly   
   named), represents a liability far in excess of any supposed protection they   
   offer. And what's going to happen when George W. Bush gets his way and   
   deploys the U.S. Army to enforce quarantines? If this is how we treat our   
   own citizens, is it any wonder we torture our foreign prisoners?  Is THIS   
   what we mean by 'spreading democracy'? Small wonder 'they' think we're the   
   'Great Satan'-we ARE!
