Actually a bit more complicated than that, but not so       > much that it couldn't happen. We have to start somewhere.              Perhaps over time this might happen but I wouldn't hold your breath.              IMO the reason pot (and other drugs) won't be legalized/decriminalized       in the U.S. is because of the pro-drug crowds insistence on labeling drug       addiction as a disease and not a choice.              As long as pro-drug groups tie legalization to Euro-style welfare for       addicts,       the average American isn't going to sign up. I (and IMO most Americans)       don't have a problem with people doing drugs but we're not going to pick       up the check for their habit.              If someone wants to smoke pot (or crack, or shoot heroin or wherever)       they're free to do as they please as far as I'm concerned but I don't want       them crying to me after they've lost their job, family, health, etc due to       their _choice_, that I must provide them with food stamps, medical care,       subsidized housing, guaranteed jobs, etc.              If you wanna play, you gotta pay.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
