And yet my kids seemed to have no problem with the message. Maybe
kids are smarter than you think.

This country is one. I mentioned alcohol, tobacco (nicotine) and
caffeine. Most people have no objection to the legal use of
   prescription drugs as well.

   >Most normal healthy parents don't condone nor do they
   >want to see their children use drugs.

That is why they buy their kids so much caffeine?
Do they refuse to fill doctors' prescriptions?
Why are there people complaining about the rampant use of ADHD
medications for kids, some of whom may not really be ADHD?

I did not approve of my kids using illegal drugs. So far as I know,
they don't (though I know that at least one of them has in the past)

   >It leads to bad things.

It can. So can lots of other kid behaviors, including not doing their
   homework.

   From some drugs.

   From some drugs.

   >and sexually transmitted diseases,

That comes from sex, not from drugs. And kids will have sex with or
   without drugs.

   >low self esteem,

That comes with or without drugs.

   >un-wanted pregnancies.

That comes from sex, which does not come from drugs (per above).

   >I guess your all for that if you don't have a problem with
   >those that use them though. Nice!

Who said I don't have a problem with them? I have a problem with
alcohol and tobacco as well, and with speeding (each of which kills a
lot more people than illegal drugs do, by the way).

I think it is silly to declare "war" on all sorts of things,
especially those for which there are no identified and realistic
victory conditions. It cheapens the concept of war, incidentally
   disrespecting our soldiers.

Drugs are bad, but there are a lot of other bad things out there.
   Perspective is in order.
