   You can do it when they're only a a few (3 or 4) inches tall. Just   
   switch their light cycle to 12hours on and 12 off - make sure they get   
   NO (none!) light during the 12 hour dark period.   
      
   If they are little girls, you will see the familiar pistils (the white   
   hairs that eventually turn orange/red) coming out as they start to   
   flower - usually a couple weeks into the 12/12 cycle (depends on the   
   strain).   
      
   If they are boys, they'll grow little "balls" hanging from the   
   junctions between the leaves and main stem.
