   A man who married his own daughter and was arrested for incest   
   has convicted after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.   
      
   Court papers show that Travis Fieldgrove, 40, wed his daughter,   
   Samantha Kershner, 22, St. Paul, in October last year.   
      
   The court heard evidence to suggest that Fieldgrove, 40, and   
   Kershner, 22, were aware that they were related before being   
   intimate,.   
      
   They were also aware that they were under investigation before   
   marrying, the court was told.   
      
   Evidence leading up to the arrest suggests that Fieldgrove and   
   Kershner were aware of the biological relationship before being   
   intimate, and further indicates that they quickly married one   
   another in Adams County after being notified of the   
   investigation.   
      
   Police said: “Evidence leading up to the arrest suggests that   
   Fieldgrove and Kershner were aware of the biological

   investigation.”   
      
   The couple only met when Kershner was just 17 after her mother   
   revealed Fieldgrove was her father.   
      
   According to a report in the New York Daily News, they developed   
   a normal father-daughter relationship before embarking on what   
   investigators described as ‘“a sordid sexual affair.”   
      
   Kershner’s half-sister was also attracted to Fieldgrove and, say   
   court documents, a “jealous competition” started between the two   
   young women.   
      
   Fieldgrove had insisted to investigators that he was not related   
   to Kershner but a DNA test proved that they were definitely   
   father and daughter.   
      
   Fieldgrove was initially charged with felony incest, but was   
   instead convicted of attempted incest this week in Adams County,   
   Nebraska.   
      
   The penalty for attempted incest is up to two years in prison.   
   He’s expected to be sentenced next month. He has already been   
   sentenced to two years for similar charges.
