   Okay, point taken. Obviously a person's consciousness would be very much   
   different than if they were operating normally. However, that neither proves   
   that the examples listed by the OP are "altered states of consciousness",   
   nor does it prove that changing states of consciousness is healthy or   
   beneficical.
