From: joshb@xs4all.nl              There are many and long public meetings about the budget of my city       of Groningen¹, who has a budget of about one billion a year. If you       accept a private business to wield that much money at their whim, in       my opinion you would have lost sight of what a market economy is. You       would also have lost sight of what a democracy under law is, for that       matter. The market will be in an unstable and worrying state because       such centralization suffocates competition and represents an unhealthy       wealth disparity, the public sector would become a Plutocracy, because       that kind of money is real power.              A trade is about a certain balance, and a market economy is also about a       dynamic balance. This is what a lot of people seem to not understand. They       interpret a market as a race, and a trade as an opportunity to screw       someone as badly as possible. When they interpret a market economy that       way, as a dog eat dog system, they need to understand that the fight       at some point will be over, and / or it will be taken to the next level       (tyranny and war).              Ā¹ About 200 000 people live in Groningen (NL).       --              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
