Modern       capitalism where profits are mostly made with smoke and mirrors isn't so       fine.              > As for the machine tools, we invented a whole new       > kind called "microcomputers". The components are sourced       from a number of companies but if you drill down to where they are       manufactured it's usually someplace in Asia. Foxcomm has a number of       plants but the Shenzhen is the most notorious:              https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jun/18/foxconn-life-       eath-forbidden-city-longhua-suicide-apple-iphone-brian-merchant-       ne-device-extract              Look beyond the technology and is there really a difference between       pricey Apple products and pricey Nike products being made by cheap labor?              not only did the US give the manufacturing away, it threw in the       technology. What do you think the whole Huawei 5G kerfuffle is about?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
