[continued from previous message]              Violence for humans is weakness, potentially even extinction.              Everything changed, but the human minds did not change with it. This is       a big mistake. Humans have too low standards about their own behavior in       all these ways. This may in the end cost them everything, including the       positions of power & greed which they covet, and more than that.              Look for peace, while you still can.                     -----------------              1. Is it really this bad, isn't this a bit harsh ? Look at all the big        cultures and civilizations of the past, and how they collapsed        eventually. They collapsed at often the cost of a large section of        the population, even though they wheren't even capable of permanently        damaging the land with their poisons, they where capable of wiping        out animal species but not nearly in the way we can today, and they        didn't even have guns, let alone nuclear bombs.               Our current culture may collapse in ways which where not possible        for earlier civilizations, who could often simply replant their soil        and stay alive somehow - as many of those people have done. Still,        they collapsed and often badly. The collapse of the Roman Empire for        example was not a picknick, and the end of the middle ages was marked        by the Black Death and many wars.               How this will end up in the age of biological, nuclear and chemical        weapons, coupled with a population who includes people above 20 years        old who have no idea on how to run a garden let alone produce serious        food for the whole family, is anyone's guess I suppose. Perhaps it        won't end up too bad in some areas, but there seems to be a lot of        potential for things to go wrong in ways which even the chaos and        collapse of previous civilizations could not match.               The basic problem is that the economy is unstable. It produces        extreme wealth and extreme poverty, which eventually tears the        civilization to shreds. This is due in no small part to having an        incorrect and disfunctional economic system, which is based on Stone        Age thinking regarding trade, without factoring in the needs of fixed        land use. IF the land is also traded like anything else, a few will        won too much, and the masses will become their slaves, until it        escalates and falls apart again.                     --       Economic & political ideology, worked out into Constitutional models,       with a multi-facetted implementation plan. http://market.socialism.nl              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
